Expanding Access to Outdoor Recreation

What We’re Doing

We believe that everyone, regardless of their background or ability, should have the right to access nature. Unfortunately, many people face obstacles that prevent them from experiencing the great outdoors. These barriers could be due to expensive equipment, lack of representation, or difficulty accessing transportation.

Fortunately, our local non-profit is working towards reducing these obstacles through community partnerships, environmental stewardship, and educational programs. We are dedicated to ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of time in nature!

Our organization hosts free beginner-level outdoor activities, such as hiking and rock climbing, each month to help deepen people’s connection to nature. Experienced volunteers lead these events, providing access to gear and a welcoming environment.

In addition to our monthly meetups, we also have a family-oriented program called Wilderness Weekends with Emily. Led by Emily Gorman, this environmental education program offers an immersive experience to explore the ecosystems and ecological treasures of Winona County.

Our commitment to sustainability and affordable outdoor gear and clothing is reflected in our bi-annual Gear Swap event, where individuals can shop, sell, or donate their personal items.

How You Can Make a Difference

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the challenges we face in the world today, but supporting local non-profits is a tangible way to make a difference. Even small donations or volunteer efforts can significantly impact the lives of individuals and communities. By coming together and supporting causes we care about, we can work towards creating a better future for all.

Donating to our annual fundraising campaign will help us continue to provide free outdoor programming and expand our outreach to the Winona community. You can donate online or send a check to the address listed below.

If you’d prefer to see us in person, consider attending our Art Wars event. This fundraising initiative takes place on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Peter’s Biergarten and includes live music, yard games, and a collaborative project with local artists. Can’t make this one? Check out our events calendar and catch another one.

We understand that not everyone can make a monetary donation, and we appreciate any support. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and make a difference. We are always seeking dedicated individuals to help support our programs and serve on our board of directors.
