Gear Swap

  • Curiosi-Tea House 901 West 5th Street Winona, MN, 55987 United States (map)

Is your puffy loosing insulation, or have you found an extra hole or two in your favorite pair of mittens? Now’s the time to gear up before snow begins to blanket the bluffs!

Join the Winona Outdoor Collaborative, in partnership with Curiosi-Tea House, at their second annual Gear Swap this November. This season’s gear swap will focus on winter clothing and gear to help fuel you for your cold-season adventures. We will also have some out-of-season items available for sale. Don’t forget to check out our dollar bins where you can find outdoor clothing at affordable prices ($2 - $5), and swing by our gear table to find some great deals on thrifted outdoor equipment waiting for it’s second chance at life.

Are you looking to sell some of your gently used outdoor gear and clothing? Let us take the hassle out of selling your gear by dropping it off at our shop the week before the sale.

  1. Collect your gently used or new gear or outdoor clothing and drop it off at 366 E 3rd Street (GARAGE ENTRANCE PLEASE!!) the week before the sale. Park in the Watkin’s Parking lot before heading to the garage where we will be collecting gear swap items. Collection times are Monday, October 30 to Friday, November 3 between 4 - 6 pm.

  2. When you arrive, a WOC staff member will fill out an intake form with you, noting which equipment you brought to the gear swap and collecting your contact information. To sell gear, there is a $3/item charge with a maximum charge of $18/household. If you would prefer to donate your gear to the gear swap, you will receive a tax receipt for the estimated total value of the gear.

  3. From there, your items will be inspected and priced by a WOC staff member and added to the gear swap inventory. All equipment is tagged with a number that is associated with your intake form so we can properly provide payment for items following the gear swap.

  4. As customers shop and purchase items, WOC staff members will match all sold items with the proper intake form. All sales will be reimbursed as a check payment within a month of the gear swap.

  5. After the gear swap, anyone who has items left in the swap that DID NOT sell will be contacted with a deadline to pick up their gear. If gear is not picked up by this date, it will be considered a donation.

What’s Included: Access to affordable, thrifted outdoor clothing and gear as well as a range of organizations/businesses sharing resources or sellable materials with attendees. Coffee, tea and food available for purchase at Curiosi-Tea to enjoy while shopping

Parking Instructions: Park either alongside 5th Street or Baker. Keep an eye out for passing vehicles and enter into Curiosi-Tea House either using the wheelchair accessible ramp on Baker Street or the front door entrance on 5th Street.
